Who We Are

About Kaberee Foundation

Our approach to helping the disabled is to take innovative ideas and run with them. Kaberee Foundation was and will remain a movement that was willing to accept new things and eager to innovate without fear. We look for heart in our people, not qualifications. Hierarchy and red-tape have to be checked in at the door. The most important part of our approach is to take the disabled out of ‘special homes’ and ‘centres’ and bring them into the mainstream.

Over the years, Kaberee Foundation has grown to encompass work that develops capabilities in people with any disability and other groups of our society who are marginalized by the mainstream.

What We Do

— Women Empowerment

Kaberee Foundation – our Centre for Women, based in Assam provides legal awareness/counselling/aid to victims of domestic violence/abuse, and their rehabilitation through vocational training in Computer Application, Beauty Culture and Cutting & Tailoring. The Centre is a catalyst for bringing about social, economic and legal empowerment of underprivileged women; encouraging micro-enterprises and entrepreneurship development through Self-Help Groups (SFG’s). Adult education and health are other areas of assistance.

— Healthcare

India has made rapid strides in the health sector since independence. However, various eye opening data from NFHS clearly indicate that access to healthcare still remains a challenge.

While the health statistics of rural India continue to be poor, the health status and access to health for the poor in urban slum dwellers has surfaced to be equally deplorable and have less than 4% of government primary healthcare facilities.

— Mission Education

Mission Education is a national level programme of Kaberee Foundation , an NGO for education which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children. Kaberee Foundation  an NGO for poor child education believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there’s no better place to start than in the corridors of education.

— Disaster Response

As COVID-19 continues to threaten lives and livelihoods, World Vision India is responding to the needs of the vulnerable people and frontline workers. Our teams are closely working with the district administration to provide people with basic essentials during this lockdown. Our teams have been responding to the needs of children and families and supporting health care workers and facilities, across the country, for over a month.

Impact Stories

A RAY OF HOPE - Kaberee Foundation

Kaberee Foundation, which means “the first ray of sun”, strives to integrate people with disabilities into the mainstream of society.

In 1992, five like-minded friends came together and started working for issues concerned with Environmental Protection. The focus of their efforts shifted towards “people with visual impairment” and they started recording study material for them on audiocassettes. This was a genuinely felt need and eventually their empowerment and integration into the mainstream became the focus. This pulled a number of volunteers into the fold. Over the years, the organization has evolved and has broad based its activities to address possible issues related with disability.
